I have been looking around for documentation around the vCenter API maximum throughput or performance limitations and can't seem to find anything.
We use an enterprise monitoring tool that polls the vCenter API for CPU, Disk, Memory at VM and host level. I am concerned that the vCenter Server won't be able to handle the large amount of IO it would require in an environment with 3000 Virtual Machines where we would be polling approximately 60,000 metrics every 5 minutes.
I know there are a lot of variables in this equation, but I can't seem to find any documentation at all that talks about the API's limitations... anything would help. I even spoke with vmware support and they pointed me here.
