We are designing a project involving several remote sites and two datacenters. We would like to use a simple vCenter design with a single vCenter sever at one datacenter managing all of the hosts/clsuters at all of the sites and both datacenters. We would then have a DR plan for a cold standby in the other datacenter. This would use a combination of vm backups and replication to get a 1 day old copy of the vCenter server at the other datacenter.
1) is this a sound plan? what are the potential implications of having a 1 day old vCenter server restored?
2) is the vCenter appliance appropriate for this plan?
3) can you change the IP address of your vCenter server if needed?
