access error copying file between datastores

On Datacenter/Datastore 1 I am able to access a virtual machine settings and see the CD/DVD device is connected to a iso file om my SAN

I need that iso file on my datastore in datacenter 2 as well

I open the datastore browser for both datastores and try to copy the directory with the iso file.

During determining how the long copy action will take I get an error "Unable to access file [..." it cannot access the iso file on datastore 1

I try to open the virtual machine settings in datacenter 1 to disconnect the iso file thinking there may be a sharing error.

I am unable to go to the VM settings as I get (once more) the error discussed in thread http://communities.vmware.com/message/1633046#1633046

After removing the problem VM (it was now a VM not a template) from the inventory I tried the copy action once more for the iso file but got the same error "Unable to access file [...".

Just to prove to myself it was not a simple sharing error between the VM and the copy action I added the VM once again to the inventory, was able to edit the VM settings and set the CD/DVD decive to the client device.

Tried to copy the iso file once more and still got the same error.

Help!

ESX Servers are ESXi 4.1.0 (build 260247)

vSphere server and client are 4.1.0. (build 258902)

SAN is a Lefthand P4500, 2 nodes in NETRAID 1
