I am working in an environment that has multiple standalone ESX and ESXi hosts. Our goal is to bring all of the hosts into vCenter to manage them and also implement DRS and HA clusters; however, currently each host only has two NICs - one management and VMs, one iSCSI storage. Obviously that is not ideal, but that is how it is in the short term. Can I feasibly add a vMotion port group to the vSwitch already designated for management and VM traffic temporarily? I would like to get to a place where we can move VMs around to correct the NIC configuration and incur minimal downtime.
Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
